The Fox in the Forest Duet

Set up The Fox in the Forest Duet by placing 11 forest tokens and jewel tokens onto their designated spaces along the meandering forest path board. Shuffle the standard deck of cards thoroughly and deal 11 cards face down to each of the two cooperating players as their starting hand, keeping the remaining deck nearby for future rounds.

The main objective is to cooperate as a team to collect all 11 forest tokens from the path. You achieve this by winning tricks, which advances your team marker along the board based on the movement values printed on the played cards.

Each round begins with one player designated as the follower leading a card from their hand. The other player, acting as the leader, must follow the exact suit if able. The winner of the trick is determined by highest card value of the led suit, or by the designated trump suit for that round. The trick winner then moves the team marker along the board according to the card's movement value.

Scoring happens at the end of each successful round. You receive 10 points for a victory, gain 1 additional point for every card remaining in both players' hands, and score 3 bonus points for each forest token successfully collected during that round.

The game concludes immediately if the team marker falls off either end of the forest path during movement, resulting in a loss. Otherwise, the game ends after two full rounds, after which total points are tallied for a final cooperative score.
