The Red Cathedral

The game setup involves placing the main board in the center with randomized dice in the outer ring and resource tokens in the eight circular sections. Guild cards are dealt to each of the four seasonal quadrants. Each player receives a workshop player board, six banners in their player color, wooden decoration chips, and a starting supply of rubles.

Players take on the role of master architects during the 15th-century reign of Ivan the Terrible, competing to earn the most prestige points by constructing and decorating sections of the famous Red Cathedral in Moscow.

On your turn, you must choose one of three actions: claim a cathedral section by placing a banner, acquire resources by moving dice around the circular draft board, or deliver materials to your claimed cathedral sections to build floors, doors, windows, and domes. Various optional actions, such as using workshop tiles or card abilities, can also be performed.

Prestige points are earned primarily through area majority scoring on the cathedral columns at the end of the game, as well as immediate recognition points when completing sections or using certain guild card benefits. Leftover resources at the end also convert into minor scoring points.

The end of the game is triggered as soon as any player successfully completes their sixth cathedral section. All other players get one final turn to catch up before final end-game scoring resolves.
