Setup

Place pawns randomly on matching city circles according to the rulebook, give each player four train cards, five destination tickets (keeping at least two), and colored train cars.

The rules, step by step

Setup
Ticket to Ride: Germany is set up by placing colored passenger pawns onto designated city circles on the board according to the rulebook. Each player receives a set of colored train cars, four train cards, and five destination tickets—split into short and long routes. Players must choose to keep at least two destination tickets while returning the rest, setting their starting hand of secrets. Train cards are shuffled and placed in two separate decks for short and long routes, alongside standard train and locomotive cards.
Objective
The main objective is to score the highest number of points by successfully claiming railway routes on the map to connect cities specified on your destination tickets, while also collecting passenger pawns of various colors from the cities you connect.
On your turn
On each player's turn, they must perform exactly one of three actions: draw two train cards from the face-up or blind deck, claim a route on the board by playing matching train cards and placing their train cars, or draw four new destination tickets (keeping at least one). Claiming routes also allows players to pick up passenger pawns from the starting and ending cities of that route.
Scoring
Points are scored throughout the game for placing train cars on routes, with longer routes yielding exponentially more points. At the end, players score points for completed destination tickets and lose points for incomplete ones. Major bonuses are awarded for the global traveler (most completed tickets), and for players who collected the most passenger pawns in each of the six colors.
Game end
The game triggers its final round when any player is left with two or fewer train cars in their supply. After that round concludes, final scores are tallied.
Tips
Strategic placement is vital: keep an eye on passenger pawns to deny opponents major color majorities while carefully timing when to draw and complete destination tickets to avoid negative points.
