Ticket to Ride Legacy: Legends of the West

To set up the first game, players assemble the map board, create a general coin supply, and take their chosen company box containing their company bonus and starting trains. Players receive initial coins, four train cards, and four ticket cards from which they must keep at least two. The story deck is partially read until a pause card is reached, and event cards are shuffled into a separate pile. The player holding the special caboose card takes the first turn.

The main goal is to build a successful railway empire and earn the most money by completing secret ticket routes, claiming map connections, and keeping your leftover train supply low. The full experience spans a 12-game legacy campaign where rules and components permanently evolve.

On your turn, you must perform exactly one of three available actions: claim a route by playing matching color cards from your hand, draw two train cards from the display or deck, or draw three new ticket cards and keep at least one. Special newspaper cards found in the deck trigger immediate event cards.

Scoring happens at the end of the game using bank slips. Players total their collected coin tokens, add points for successfully connected ticket routes (while subtracting points for incomplete tickets), and add bonus money based on how few trains they have left in front of them.

The game triggers its final round as soon as any player has two or fewer trains remaining in their personal supply. Once every player takes one final turn, the game concludes, final scores are calculated, the campaign story advances, and a losing event card is permanently retired.
