Ticket to Ride: Rails & Sails

Ticket to Ride: Rails & Sails features a double-sided board showing either the World map or the Great Lakes region. Players choose one side and receive matching plastic trains and ships. For the World map, players take 25 trains and 50 ships, keeping a maximum of 60 pieces total. For the Great Lakes, they receive 22 trains and 28 ships, keeping up to 50 pieces. Players also draw travel cards, receive starting tickets (keeping at least three), and take three harbors. Scoring markers are placed at zero.

The main goal of the game is to score the highest number of points. Players achieve this by claiming rail and sea routes between cities, completing destination tickets, building harbors, and fulfilling complex tour tickets on the World map.

On their turn, a player must perform exactly one action. Options include claiming a route with matching travel cards, taking new travel cards from the face-up display or blind deck, drawing new ticket cards, building a harbor in a city connected by their routes, or exchanging train and ship pieces for a penalty.

Points accumulate throughout the game based on the length of claimed routes. At the end of the game, players add points for completed destination tickets and built harbors, while subtracting points for incomplete tickets and unbuilt harbors. Exchanged pieces also deduct points.

The game triggers its final round when any player has six or fewer total train and ship pieces remaining. Every player takes two final turns before final scoring determines the winner.
