The rules, step by step
Setup
Shuffle all 100 cards, then draw the first 36 cards. Return the remaining cards to the box as they will not be used. Deal 4 cards face-up to each player. Take the top card from the remaining deck and place it face-down in the center of the table to start the timeline. Take another card from the deck and place it face-down to start the discard pile.
Objective
In cooperative mode, the objective is to work as a team to play as many cards as possible into a single timeline. In competitive mode, the objective is to be the only player remaining with cards at the end of a round.
On your turn
In cooperative mode, players take turns clockwise. On your turn, you can either play one or two cards into the timeline or discard one card. If you play a card, you turn it face-down and place it to the left of the timeline if its year is smaller than the current leftmost card, or to the right if its year is larger than the current rightmost card. You can also place a card between two existing cards in the secondary timeline if its year falls within their range. If you cannot place a card, you must discard it. If you successfully play your first card, you can choose to end your turn or play a second card. If you play a second card, your turn ends immediately. If you fail to play your first card, your turn ends immediately. If you fail to play your second card, you can choose to end your turn or try to play another card. In competitive mode, the youngest player starts. Players take turns clockwise. On your turn, you must place one of your cards to the left or right of the starting card in the timeline. If you place it correctly, you keep it in the timeline. If incorrect, you return it to the box and draw a new card. If the timeline already contains cards, you can place your card in any valid position. If a player chooses a card with a year already present in the timeline, they can place it on either side of that card.
Scoring
In cooperative mode, after the game ends, calculate the team's score. Each card in the main timeline is worth 2 points. Each card in the secondary timeline is worth 1 point. Each card in the discard pile, draw pile, and players' hands is worth -1 point. In competitive mode, there is no scoring; the last player with cards is the winner.
Game end
In cooperative mode, the game ends when all players run out of cards or when a player cannot play any card during their turn. In competitive mode, if a player is the only one to correctly place their last card during a round, they win immediately. If multiple players correctly place their last card, they remain in the game, and all other players are eliminated. The remaining players each draw one new card and continue playing until only one player remains, who is then declared the winner.
Tips
In cooperative mode, do not hesitate to communicate and discuss your cards with your teammates. While the final decision on your turn is yours, always seek advice from your teammates. Discarding cards is a tactical way to create a larger and safer timeline by avoiding large and dangerous time gaps between cards. In competitive mode, focus on correctly placing your cards to reduce your hand size and eliminate opponents. Remember that you cannot look at the printed dates on the other side of the card until you play it.
