The rules, step by step
Setup
To set up Time's Up! Title Recall!, players divide into two or more teams. Take forty title cards from the box and distribute them evenly among all players face-down. Teams inspect their dealt cards privately and choose whether they will play using the blue side or the yellow side of the cards for the entire game. Once everyone is familiar with their cards, all 40 cards are gathered back together, shuffled thoroughly into a single deck, and placed within reach. One team sends their first cluegiver to the front with a 30-second sand timer ready, while all other teams prepare to listen.
Objective
The main objective of Time's Up! Title Recall! is for teams to score the highest number of points by successfully guessing as many titles as possible across three consecutive, progressively challenging rounds. Each round uses the same pool of 40 cards, meaning players must use their memory of previous clues to guess faster and more accurately as the rules become more restrictive.
On your turn
A player acts as the cluegiver for their team, starting a 30-second sand timer. In Round 1, cluegivers can say and do anything except speak the exact words on the card, and passing is not allowed. In Round 2, cluegivers can only say a single word per card, but passing is permitted. In Round 3, cluegivers cannot say any words at all, relying entirely on sounds, gestures, humming, and physical acting. Guessers are limited to one guess per card in Rounds 2 and 3, and cluegivers can skip and draw a new card at any time when passing is allowed.
Scoring
At the end of each turn, when the timer runs out, teams count the cards they guessed correctly. Those guessed cards are collected into the team's scoring pile. Unsuccessfully guessed cards are placed at the bottom of the active deck. At the conclusion of each round, teams record their score based on their guessed cards before all 40 cards are reshuffled for the next round.
Game end
The game ends after the completion of Round 3, once all 40 cards have been played through and scored across the three rounds. The team with the highest accumulated score across all rounds is declared the winner.
Tips
Players should pay close attention during opposing teams' turns to remember answers for future rounds. Piggybacking on clever clues used by others helps teams recall difficult titles. Incorporating sounds and body movements early in the game also helps build familiarity for the silent third round.
