Setup
Each player gets a galaxy mat, four starships, a galaxy slider, and culture and energy tokens, placing two starships on their home galaxy and two on the starship track, with culture and energy tokens on their respective tracks at 1 and 2, and the galaxy slider on the bottom row of the track.
The rules, step by step
Setup
Each player collects a galaxy mat, four starships, a galaxy slider, and one culture and energy token in their chosen color. Two starships are placed upright on the home galaxy area of their mat, and the other two are placed on the spaces marked with a small starship symbol on the starship track. The culture and energy tokens are placed on their respective circular tracks at 1 and 2. The galaxy slider is set on the bottom row of the track of numbers and symbols. The planet cards are shuffled into a face-down deck, and a number of them equal to the number of players plus two are dealt into a face-up row. The action mat and six game dice are placed nearby. The youngest player receives the first player marker, or a player can be chosen randomly.
Objective
In Tiny Epic Galaxies Blast Off, players embark on a cosmic journey to discover new planets, acquire advanced technologies, and expand their civilization. The ultimate goal is to accumulate the most victory points by the end of the game, demonstrating superior galactic influence and development.
On your turn
A turn begins by rolling a number of dice determined by the current position of your galaxy slider. You then use the symbols on the rolled dice to take actions. Dice can be activated in any order, but each die can only be used once per turn. Used dice are moved to the leftmost empty space of the activation bay on the action mat. You can choose not to activate a die. At any point during your turn, you may spend one energy to re-roll all unactivated dice. This can be done multiple times as long as you have energy to spend. Actions include moving a ship to a planet's surface (gaining immediate benefits) or orbiting it (advancing colonization), acquiring culture or energy based on ships on planets or your home galaxy, or utilizing your galaxy to upgrade its level or activate colonized planet actions.
Scoring
Victory points are primarily earned through colonizing planets and advancing your galaxy's level. When you colonize a planet, you gain the victory points indicated by the star symbol on that planet card. Additionally, your galaxy slider's position on the galaxy mat indicates a victory point value. Whenever you gain new points in the game, you must announce your current total victory points, which includes points from all colonized planets and the visible value shown with a star on your galaxy slider.
Game end
The game concludes when any player announces that they have reached 21 or more victory points. Once this condition is met, the end of the game is triggered, and play continues until every player has had an equal number of turns. After all players have completed their final turns, each player calculates their total score by summing the victory points from all planets they have colonized and their current galaxy level. The player with the highest total score wins. In the event of a tie, the tied player with the most colonized planets wins. If there's still a tie, the tied player with the highest galaxy level wins. If a tie persists, the tied player with the highest total number of resources (culture and energy) wins. If all these criteria still result in a tie, the tied players share the victory.
Tips
Opponents can actively participate during your turn by choosing to 'follow' an action you've just performed. To do this, an opponent must spend one culture from their mat. They then get to copy the action of the die you just played, but they don't have to perform it in the exact same way. For example, if you moved a starship to a planet's surface, a following opponent could move their starship to orbit a different planet. Any number of other players can follow an action, but each player can only follow a specific action once per turn. Following actions are resolved in clockwise order, starting from the player whose turn it currently is. Note that only actions from dice placed in spaces with a yellow border on the action mat can be followed by other players.
