Setup

Each player gets a locomotive card and 7 playing cards, arranged in descending order; remaining cards form a draw pile.

The rules, step by step

Setup
To set up, each player receives one locomotive card, placed slightly to their left. Then, shuffle the 84 playing cards and deal 7 to each player. Players arrange these 7 cards behind their locomotive in descending order (highest to lowest number). The remaining playing cards are placed face-down in the center of the play area to form the draw pile. The youngest player goes first, drawing one card, the second player draws two, the third draws three, and the fourth draws four. After drawing, players choose one card to replace a card in their row, placing the replaced card face-up next to the draw pile. If multiple cards were drawn, the unchosen ones are placed face-down next to the draw pile.
Objective
The primary objective of the game is to be the first player to successfully arrange all of their train cards in ascending numerical order, from the lowest number closest to their locomotive to the highest number at the end of their train line.
On your turn
On a player's turn, they have two options. The first option is to draw a card from the face-down draw pile. If they choose this, they must then replace one card in their train row with the newly drawn card. The card removed from their row is then placed face-up next to the draw pile. The second option is to use a special ability by drawing one of the face-up cards next to the draw pile. Each face-up card has a symbol at the top indicating a unique ability. After using the ability, the card is placed face-down in the discard pile next to the draw pile.
Scoring
Scoring in 'Game of Trains' is straightforward: there is no complex point system. The game is won by the first player who successfully arranges all of their train cards in a continuous ascending numerical sequence. As soon as a player achieves this, the game concludes, and that player is declared the winner.
Game end
The game concludes immediately when any player successfully arranges all of their train cards in ascending numerical order. There are no further turns or actions once this condition is met. That player instantly wins the game.
Tips
Strategic use of special abilities is crucial. The 'swap two adjacent cards' ability allows minor adjustments, while 'swap two cards with one in between' offers more significant reordering. 'Move a card 2 spaces right/left' can help shift cards efficiently, but remember it must be exactly two spaces. 'Remove cards' actions (far left, far right, or middle) can disrupt opponents, but if a card is protected, it remains. Utilize the 'protect' ability to safeguard key cards from removal. If the draw pile runs out, shuffle the face-down discard pile to create a new draw pile.
