Setup
Place the three-part circular board, distribute starting markers, randomly set 12 temple tiles in day/night order, and give each player an archmage and initial resources.
The rules, step by step
Setup
Set up the game by assembling the circular three-part board, allocating red, yellow, and blue spell markers, and placing purple cores in the center. Randomly arrange 12 temple tiles around the board in day or night positions, covering one with a day/night marker. Each player receives a player board tracking mana level, initial resources (including one purple spell core), an archmage piece, and a set of day/night movement tiles.
Objective
Players act as powerful mages competing to gather spell cores, manage magical resources, and successfully navigate temple challenges to prove their mastery and achieve the highest overall score.
On your turn
Rounds consist of four phases: first, day and night tiles are revealed and moved clockwise and counterclockwise to determine time state; second, players place their archmages on unoccupied temple tiles while avoiding adjacency and barrier restrictions; third, players collect primary and secondary resources from adjacent tiles; fourth, players choose to spend resources to advance markers along challenge tracks or pass.
Scoring
At the end of the game, players score points based on completed rows and columns of spells on their boards, bonus points from marker positions, and any additional points granted by special spells acquired during play.
Game end
The game concludes after five complete rounds, or earlier if the purple spell core pool is exhausted or two of the final three spaces on any marker track are filled.
Tips
Plan your movement carefully around other archmages and barriers to maximize resource gathering, and balance your spell grids to trigger lucrative column and row point bonuses.
