Unlock!: Escape Adventures

To set up Unlock!, players open the box and choose one of the mystery adventures or start with the tutorial adventure. Lay out the cards in their numerical order, keeping the topmost card in front and stacking the remaining cards in a neat pile. Download and open the dedicated Unlock! app on your smartphone or tablet, select your chosen adventure, and you are ready to begin the escape adventure.

The primary objective of Unlock! is to solve various small riddles, find hidden clues, combine objects, and navigate through a series of thrilling story-driven locations to ultimately escape the room or solve the mystery before the ten-minute timer runs out.

On your turn, you inspect room cards and look around for interest points marked with numbers. If you investigate a point, you find the corresponding card in the deck and turn it over. You can combine object cards of matching colors, interact with machines using the app, and solve code locks to progress through the adventure.

While Unlock! does not feature traditional victory points, your performance is measured by your final completion time and the number of penalty minutes incurred from incorrect guesses or excessive hint usage.

The game ends either when you successfully unlock the final exit door and escape the room within the time limit, or when the timer hits zero, in which case you must rely on the provided solutions in the rulebook.
