Unlock!: Heroic Adventures

Setting up Unlock! Heroic Adventures is quick and straightforward. First, choose one of the three included scenarios (Inserir Ficha, Sherlock Holmes - O Fio Vermelho do Crime, or Em Busca do Coelho Branco). Do not shuffle the scenario deck before reading the introductory card. Lay out the starting cards as instructed by the rules or scenario introduction, and ensure all players have access to a smartphone or tablet running the official Unlock! companion app, which is required to track time, input codes, and receive hints.

The main objective of Unlock! Heroic Adventures is a fully cooperative escape-room experience where players work together as a team. You must examine cards, interpret hidden clues, solve logic puzzles, and combine inventory items to progress through the storyline. The ultimate goal is to complete the chosen adventure and escape or solve the central mystery within the strict sixty-minute time limit imposed by the companion app.

There are no traditional turn orders in Unlock!. Players simultaneously examine visible cards on the table, look for hidden details using the app's magnifier or search functions, and discuss potential solutions. When you believe two cards can be combined, add their corner numbers together and find that card in the deck. If the app requires a code, enter the number or interaction code into the digital interface to unlock new areas, tools, or story progression.

While there is no competitive scoring, performance is evaluated at the end of each scenario based on your final completion time. The companion app tracks your time closely and deducts penalty minutes whenever you submit incorrect combination attempts or wrong codes. Furthermore, requesting hints from the app incurs time penalties, which directly lowers your final star rating upon successfully finishing the game.

The game ends in one of two ways: victory is achieved when you successfully solve the final puzzle of the scenario and enter the correct winning code into the app before the timer runs out. Conversely, the game ends in defeat if the sixty-minute countdown reaches zero, though groups can choose to continue playing past the time limit just to see the conclusion of the story.
