Setup

Place the board, sort resources into reserves, assign player boards and starting meeples, fill locations with colored cubes, and prep bags for monks and goods.

The rules, step by step

Setup
Set up the main board in the center, organizing all coins, wheat bags, horses, carts, plows, oxen, and market tiles in reserve. Each player receives a personal player board and a matching set of family meeples across generations, placing one zero-level meeple on the start track and another on the bridge of their time track. Sort the four monks into the black bag and mix the colorful resource cubes into the green bag before randomly distributing them into the board's designated action spaces according to player count. Place marker tiles on the marketplace tracks and distribute initial coins.
Objective
The main objective of Village is to guide your family through generations to accumulate the most prestige points. You achieve this by successfully managing your farm, sending family members on travels, positioning them in the village council, advancing them through church ranks, fulfilling customer demands, and ultimately securing their legacy in the village chronicle.
On your turn
During a round, players take turns clockwise. On your turn, you must pick up a single colored cube from one of the board's locations and perform the associated action. Actions include acquiring resources at the farm, gaining influence in the council, processing wheat at the mill, buying upgrades from craftsmen, traveling across regions, or placing family members in the church. Every action costs time, tracked on your player board, and crossing the time bridge results in the death of a family member.
Scoring
End-game scoring awards prestige points for several distinct achievements. You score points based on how many cities your travelers visited, your representation in the council, your family members' positions and hierarchy in the church, how many generations are recorded in the village chronicle, fulfilled client orders, and leftover coins.
Game end
The game's final phase is triggered immediately when either the anonymous village graves are completely filled with deceased family members or the village chronicle book is completely full. Once triggered, the active player completes their final turn, and all other players take one last turn before final scoring commences.
Tips
Efficient time management is critical since running out of time kills your family members. Balance your focus between traveling for easy point generation, advancing in the church for end-game majorities, and maintaining farm production to pay for crucial actions.
