Wits & Wagers

To set up the game, each player receives a dry-erase board, a dry-erase marker, and two betting chips of their chosen color. The game board, which includes spaces for answers and betting odds, is placed in the center of the playing area. A stack of question cards is placed face down on the designated spot on the board. Before starting, players should select seven question cards to be used for the game, placing a special 'end of game' card at the bottom of this stack to indicate the final round.

The primary objective of Wits & Wagers is to accumulate the most money by the end of the game. This is achieved not only by providing accurate numerical guesses to trivia questions but, more importantly, by strategically betting on the answer that is closest to the correct one without exceeding it. Players must balance their knowledge with calculated risks to maximize their winnings.

Each round begins with one player, acting as the banker, reading a question from the top of the question card stack. All other players then have a limited time, indicated by a sand timer, to write their numerical guess on their dry-erase board. Once all guesses are submitted, they are revealed and arranged on the betting mat in ascending order from smallest to largest. If there are duplicate guesses, they are stacked on the same spot. If there's an odd number of unique guesses, the middle spot on the betting mat remains empty; otherwise, it's filled.

After the guesses are arranged, players place their two betting chips on the answers they believe are closest to the correct answer without going over. Players can place both chips on one answer or split them between two different answers. Each betting spot has different odds, ranging from 2:1 to 6:1, depending on how many unique answers are present. The actual answer is then revealed. The answer that is closest to the actual answer without exceeding it is the winning answer. Players who bet on the winning answer receive money according to the odds displayed on the betting mat. If a player's guess is exactly correct, they receive an additional 300 bonus money chips. All betting chips are returned to the players at the end of the round, regardless of whether they won or lost.

The game concludes after seven rounds, which is indicated by the 'end of game' card being revealed from the bottom of the question card stack. At this point, all players count their accumulated money chips. The player with the highest total amount of money is declared the winner. In case of a tie, the player who is the youngest among the tied players wins.
