The rules, step by step
Setup
Set up involves choosing one of the four available superpowers: the United States of America, the European Union, the People's Republic of China, or the Russian Federation. Each player receives a corresponding dual-layered player board to track production levels, along with player-specific cards, tokens, and starting resources. The central world map board is placed within reach, and country cards are prepared alongside the main deck of cards.
Objective
The main objective of World Order is to achieve global dominance and score the most victory points over the course of six rounds. Players compete to exert influence across the map by taking control of different countries, leveraging their unique superpower abilities, and fulfilling various goals.
On your turn
During each round, players take a series of turns primarily centered around card play. You will play cards from your hand to generate resources, develop special abilities, and place cubes or military tanks onto the map. The game features light deck-building elements, allowing players to acquire new cards to improve their strategic options as the game progresses.
Scoring
Scoring revolves around area control and majority mechanics tied to the countries on the board. Players earn points by successfully controlling regions, fulfilling specific secret or public goals, and managing their economic and military infrastructure efficiently.
Game end
The game automatically finishes at the end of the sixth round. Once the final round's actions are fully completed, players tally up all accumulated points from country control, goals, and bonuses to crown the winner.
Tips
Familiarize yourself with your specific nation's asymmetry—such as China's trading prowess or Russia's abundant oil—since playing to your faction's natural strengths is vital. Balance economic buildup with military presence to ensure you can secure crucial regions before your opponents do.
