The rules, step by step

Setup
To set up, place the game board in the center, shuffle the event cards for each chapter and place them face down on their respective spaces, and place resource tokens (wood, stone, wool, grain, gold, medical knowledge, loyalty, and victory points) in their designated areas. Each player receives a player board, 6 action cards, 2 houses (one of each color), and 1 gold coin.
Objective
The objective of 'World Without End' is to accumulate the most victory points by the end of the game. Players achieve this by strategically building houses, managing resources, curing the plague, and completing various actions and event card objectives over four chapters.
On your turn
A turn consists of a player choosing one of their 6 action cards to play, resolving its effect, and then drawing a new card to replace it. This process continues until all 6 action cards have been played, marking the end of a chapter. Players must carefully consider their card plays as each action has a significant impact on their strategy and resource management.
Scoring
Victory points are primarily earned through building houses, with certain house types providing ongoing benefits or end-game points. Curing the plague also grants victory points, as do various actions on the board and specific event cards. Players should constantly evaluate the most efficient ways to gain points based on their current resources and the evolving game state.
Game end
The game concludes after the fourth chapter has been completed. Once all event cards for Chapter IV have been resolved and all players have played their final action cards, players tally their total victory points from houses, cured plague tokens, and any other sources. The player with the highest total victory points is declared the winner.
Tips
Plan your moves several turns in advance, as you only play six cards per chapter. A strong opening strategy is to build two houses in the first chapter, prioritizing Piety and Grain houses for their resource generation. Aim to accumulate at least six Medical Knowledge tokens before the start of Chapter 3 to effectively combat the plague. In Chapter 3, play your House Rent card on the first turn if possible to maximize income before potential plague events. Also in Chapter 3, try to hold onto your Favor card for a potential reward. In Chapter 4, save your Privilege card for a powerful combo, but be aware of an event that can disable it. Finally, if you have cloth in Chapter 4, wait to sell it until a specific event card appears, allowing you to trade one cloth for three victory points multiple times.
