5 Second Rule

To set up the game, place the card box and the five-second timer on the table within reach of all players. Before starting, collectively decide on the total number of rounds you will play. For larger groups, it is recommended to play 2-3 rounds, while smaller groups might prefer 4-5 rounds to ensure everyone gets enough turns.

The main objective of 5 Second Rule is to collect the most cards by the end of the game. Players achieve this by successfully naming three items that fit a given category within a strict five-second time limit.

To begin a turn, a player is designated as being "in the hot seat." The player to their left draws a card from the box and reads the category aloud. Immediately after the category is read, the timer is flipped to start the five-second countdown. The player in the hot seat must then quickly name three items that fit the category.

If the player in the hot seat successfully names three unique and correct answers before the balls in the timer stop moving, they get to keep the card. If they fail to do so, the opportunity passes to the player to their right, who then has five seconds to provide three unique, correct answers (without repeating any previously given answers). This continues around the table until someone succeeds or play returns to the original hot seat player, in which case the original player gets the card by default.

The game concludes once the agreed-upon number of rounds has been completed. All players count their collected cards, and the player with the highest number of cards is declared the winner. In the event of a tie between two or more players, those tied players will participate in a tie-breaker round to determine the ultimate winner.
