De pe coperta din spate: Attack in the Ardennes este un board-wargame la nivel operațional pentru doi jucători, care acoperă ultima ofensivă a Germaniei în vest. Un participant controlează forțele germane ce încearcă să străpungă liniile Aliaților; celălalt comandă trupele americane, britanice și franceze care încearcă să oprească asaltul. Deplasarea unităților este de tip point-to-point de-a lungul drumurilor, subliniind rolul cheie al liniilor de transport în regiunea accidentată și dens împădurită a Ardenilor. Fiecare tură acoperă opt ore din bătălia reală; fiecare piesă reprezintă o unitate de mărimea unui regiment implicat în conflict. Blindatele, infanteria, artileria și lansatoarele de rachete au roluri esențiale, fiecare având propriile puncte forte și slăbiciuni.
