The Civil War in the Far West: The New Mexico Campaign, 1862 (NMC) este o simulare pentru doi jucatori, cu o complexitate scazuta spre medie, a invaziei confederate in sud-vestul SUA. Este in principal un design la nivel strategic, dar contine si nuante operationale. Jucatorul confederat este in general in ofensiva, insa situatia cere si ca cel al Uniunii sa execute contraatacuri. Fiecare hexagon de pe harta reprezinta noua mile (14,6 kilometri) dintr-o parte in alta. Unitatile de manevra pentru ambele tabere sunt reprezentate folosind un sistem de puncte de forta, unde fiecare punct echivaleaza cu aproximativ 100 de soldati. Fiecare unitate de artilerie reprezinta circa sase tunuri. Fiecare tura de joc reprezinta o jumatate de luna. Editia S&T 252.
