When claiming routes, Wild Cards can substitute for any color. Be aware that if you pick a face-up Wild Card, you can only draw one card that turn. Grey Routes can be claimed with any set of cards of a single color. In 3- or 4-player games, both double routes between cities are open, but a single player cannot claim both. In a 2-player game, once one route of a double route is claimed, the other is off-limits. Ferries are special Grey Routes identified by locomotive icons, requiring a specific number of locomotive cards plus other matching cards. Tunnel Routes are also special; when attempting to claim one, you lay down your cards, then reveal three additional cards from the deck. For each revealed card that matches the color of the cards you played, you must play an additional matching card (or a locomotive). If you cannot or choose not to, your turn ends, and you take your cards back.
