The rules, step by step

Setup
To set up a game of Rococo, place the main palace board in the center of the table and fill the respective market spaces with employee cards, garment tiles, resources, and decorations. Each player receives a personal player board, a set of identical starting employee cards, 15 coins, a thimble marker, and starting crafting materials like lace and thread. The first player receives the thimble marker, and play is structured around seven distinct rounds.
Objective
The goal of Rococo is to run the most prestigious tailoring business for a lavish royal ball. Players earn prestige points by crafting and renting out elegant dresses to guests, funding grand decorations in the palace halls, hiring master and journeyman employees, and acquiring statues and fireworks displays.
On your turn
Each round is divided into phases. In the preparation phase, players draw a hand of employee cards representing their tailoring staff. Players then simultaneously select three cards from their hand in secret. In turn order, players play one of their chosen cards to execute actions such as hiring new employees, acquiring material resources, tailoring or renting out garments, funding decorations, or claiming the queen's favor token. Play continues in a round-robin fashion until all chosen cards have been played.
Scoring
Scoring happens primarily at the end of the game. Players convert remaining coins into points at a rate of 10 coins per point. Additional points are awarded for abilities on employee cards, holding majorities in each palace hall, ranking in the fireworks display, and having specific combinations of crafted garments and statues.
Game end
The game concludes after the completion of the seventh round. At this point, players proceed to final endgame scoring. All coins are traded for points, majorities are evaluated across all five palace halls and the fireworks track, and points from statue and employee bonuses are tallied. The player with the most prestige points wins.
Tips
Success in Rococo requires careful planning of your employee card deck and precise timing. Because cards can only be used once per round before being discarded or returning to your hand, choosing the right sequence of actions is crucial. Pay close attention to hall majorities and try to secure valuable palace spots before your opponents do.
