Setup

Place the mat, five theme cards, and tokens equal to the number of players on the unicorn zone. The funniest player is the first captain.

The rules, step by step

Setup
To set up the game, place the game mat in the center of the playing area. Shuffle the theme cards and draw five, placing them in a face-down pile next to the mat. Take a number of tokens equal to the number of players and stack them on the unicorn zone of the mat. Finally, decide who the funniest player is; this player will be the captain for the first round.
Objective
The main objective of Top Ten is for the players to collectively keep at least one token in the unicorn zone by the end of the fifth round. This is achieved by successfully guessing the numerical order of players' responses to various themes.
On your turn
Each of the game's five rounds begins with the captain drawing the top theme card and reading one of the two themes aloud. The ten number cards (1-10) are shuffled and one is dealt face-down to each player. Players look at their number in secret. Starting with the captain, each player gives an answer that corresponds to their secret number card, with 1 being the lowest and 10 being the highest intensity/relevance to the theme. Answers must not contain numbers and can be repeated but not changed. After all players have given their answers, the captain attempts to guess the order of the answers from lowest to highest by choosing a player, revealing their card, then choosing another player, and so on.
Scoring
If the captain successfully guesses the order of a player's card (meaning the revealed card's number is higher than the previous one, or it's the first card), the token remains in the unicorn zone. However, if the captain reveals a card that is lower than the previously revealed card, one token is moved from the unicorn zone to the poop zone. The captain continues to reveal cards until all players' cards are revealed or an incorrect guess is made.
Game end
The game concludes after five rounds. If, at the end of the fifth round, there is at least one token remaining in the unicorn zone, the players win the game. If, at any point during the game, all tokens have been moved to the poop zone, the players immediately lose.
Tips
The rulebook provides additional instructions for playing with nine players, as well as an 'Expert Version' with more advanced rules. These can be explored if you desire a different challenge or have a larger group. Remember that the goal is to interpret the theme and your secret number to give a response that helps the captain deduce the correct order.
