Zoo Tycoon: The Board Game - Dinosaur Digs is a new standalone board game set in the world of Zoo Tycoon. In this highly thematic dinosaur park simulation, each player builds their own dinosaur park in front of them and must keep an eye on animal welfare, revenue, popularity, science, and the danger level. Dinosaur Digs uses familiar mechanics such as set collection, worker placement, and tile placement, but also introduces completely new mechanics.

The game is played over several years (rounds), during which players perform different actions depending on the season. Players breed dinosaurs in the laboratory, obtain new dinosaurs/fossils from various dig sites, expand their zoos with new enclosures and buildings, improve the security of their fences, and must always keep an eye on their finances.

The player who does this best and maintains a balance between science and popularity wins the game.
