How exactly do you decide a game has a Romanian edition?

We look at four signals, UNION-ed (any one positive is enough): (1) an edition cataloged from BGG ` ` marked "Romanian"; (2) a rulebook cataloged with language='ro'; (3) an alternate name with lang='ro' from one of 3 sources — BGG sync (admin-correctable), the daily `ro_title` puzzle on /joaca, or the `ro_title` task on /ajuta; (4) an explicit marker in the canonical title — `(RO)` or a long form like "(editia in limba romana)". On (3) we apply a min-4-alphanumeric-char filter to strip very short typos (e.g. "Hîve" for "Hive"); the threshold safely keeps real short names like "Tabu". Romanian shops always include a marker in the title when selling the localized edition, so signal (4) is a strong one.

Why compare both Top 100 and Top 500?

Top 100 reflects the "board-game canon" — the oldest-important games. Top 500 also includes recent releases, so its percentage shows the localization velocity better. The gap between the two is the interesting signal.

How fresh is the data?

Monthly — when we refresh BGG ranks and the edition sync. The `/api/public/reports/translation-coverage` endpoint has a 30-minute cache over the hourly compute.

Why does the publisher leaderboard only count BGG editions, not the other signals?

Only `game_editions` carries a reliable `publisher` field. The other 3 signals (alternate_names / rulebooks / title markers) carry no publisher identity for the localizer, so including them would inflate the leaderboard with phantom publishers. All 4 signals feed the Top 100 / Top 500 coverage percentages, but the publisher leaderboard stays on the reliable source.
